CAP Classes

CAP provides life skill classes to the community through a variety of affiliated organizations within the Inland Empire. These classes range from personal enhancement, business and educational skills. 

The classes we offer are completely free of charge.  The majority of the classes are for 2 hours, unless advised otherwise.

If you are interested in any of these classes you may register by following the registration requirements according to the class instruction.

World Class Relationships for Work & Home 
This class is evidence-based course that teaches communication skills for getting and keeping a job, as well as forming family relationships that endure and strengthen during times of stress. The course covers 16 pillars and is interactive and dynamic with lots of in-class skill practice and exercises. Topics include: setting goals, power listening, avoiding blame, handling hot topics, resolving conflicts and disagreements, giving apology & forgiveness, growing yourself, nurturing the relationship, and more.

Anger Management for Teens
The Youth Anger Management Curriculum uses role play and scenarios to assist individuals in learning what they must do to avoid confrontational situations. The curriculum assists participants in learning ways to manage their emotions and develop alternative behavioral responses. Through this skills-based curriculum, participants make a commitment to avoid the use of anger or violence to solve personal problems. Youth learning objectives include: understand the strong influence that emotions have on behavior, improve interpersonal communication, gain better self-control and make a commitment to avoid use of anger or violence to solve personal problems.

Drugs & Alcohol for Teens
The Youth Drugs & Alcohol Curriculum assists participants in understanding the dangers of continued drug use/abuse. Through activity-enhanced components, participants learn alternatives to drug use that will help them cope with stress and make positive choices in their daily lives. Youth learning objectives include: identify and master the factors that influence behavior, use the skills and identify the resources that help develop a healthy and positive life-style, learn the skills that help one live peacefully with family and others, consider the future and set goals to accomplish in life, and choose new, positive activities to replace old, negative activities.

Cognitive Life Skills for Teens
Designed for medium to high-risk offenders, the Youth Cognitive Life Skills Curriculum offers an extended and comprehensive educational process to help participants overcome negative behavioral patterns and enables them to be more productive in their environment. Through activity-enhanced components targeting criminogenic needs, participants learn how to establish positive, goal-directed behavior patterns and understand the process necessary to change negative behavior. Youth learning objectives include: critical cognitive thinking skills, realistically examine one’s position in life, discover how attitude affects behavior, gain better self-control, understand the process necessary to change behavior, establish goal-directed behavior patterns, practice and gain new life skills, and make a commitment to be a law-abiding citizen.

ACT/SAT Practice Test and Debrief
Gain valuable insight into what to expect on the ACT/SAT test day. Students will take a practice test and learn tips to reinforce their own preparation for the ACT/SAT. Drugs & Alcohol for Teens
The Youth Drugs & Alcohol Curriculum assists participants in understanding the dangers of continued drug use/abuse. Through activity-enhanced components, participants learn alternatives to drug use that will help them cope with stress and make positive choices in their daily lives. Youth learning objectives include: identify and master the factors that influence behavior, use the skills and identify the resources that help develop a healthy and positive life-style, learn the skills that help one live peacefully with family and others, consider the future and set goals to accomplish in life, and choose new, positive activities to replace old, negative activities.

Cognitive Life Skills for Teens
Designed for medium to high-risk offenders, the Youth Cognitive Life Skills Curriculum offers an extended and comprehensive educational process to help participants overcome negative behavioral patterns and enables them to be more productive in their environment. Through activity-enhanced components targeting criminogenic needs, participants learn how to establish positive, goal-directed behavior patterns and understand the process necessary to change negative behavior. Youth learning objectives include: critical cognitive thinking skills, realistically examine one’s position in life, discover how attitude affects behavior, gain better self-control, understand the process necessary to change behavior, establish goal-directed behavior patterns, practice and gain new life skills, and make a commitment to be a law-abiding citizen.
